In 2021, a group of volunteers from various professional backgrounds who believed in the necessity of establishing a city museum and memory center in Famagusta formed the "Famagusta City Museum Initiative Group." With the efforts of this group, the first steps were taken toward this goal. In April 2022, the initiative took on a more institutional identity under the name "Famagusta City Museum Association" following its General Assembly.

Our association, set out with the aim of adding value to Famagusta—a city with a rich history of 2,300 years—is seeking ways to establish a contemporary city museum that will play a vital role in transmitting the city's past to future generations. At the same time, our association conducts various research projects and supports initiatives aimed at preserving and sustaining the memory of Famagusta.
