"What Kind of City Museum?" – A Youth Art Event Celebrating International Museum Day

An event titled “What Kind of City Museum?” was held in celebration of International Museum Day, featuring a series of student drawings that reflected their vision of a future city museum. The activity was organized by Aysel Alihan, Vice President of the Famagusta City Museum Association. Students from Namık Kemal High School, accompanied by their teacher and MAKEMÜD Secretary General Koral Özkoraltay, visited Bastion 6 and were later hosted by the municipality at the historic Martinengo Bastion with refreshments. There, they created imaginative drawings under the theme “What Kind of City Museum?”

In her address to the students, Vice President Aysel Alihan shared the following words: “We’ve started celebrating International Museum Day in advance. Museums around the world are no longer dull exhibition halls—they are vibrant, ever-changing, and engaging spaces that attract not only tourists but local communities as well. As the youth who shape our future, we hope you will express your imagination through your drawings and inspire us in return.”

The students’ artworks were displayed to the public at Martinengo Bastion over a three-day period, starting on May 18, International Museum Day.
